Richmond Ambulance Authority (RAA) CEO Chip Decker made an appearance on the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association’s “Patients Come First” podcast to talk about RAA’s unique EMS model, and some of the agency’s initiatives. RAA uses a data driven approach to determine where to deploy ambulances throughout the City of Richmond. Chief Decker explains how the system works, why it’s so efficient, and how it enables us to have the fastest response times per capita in the country.
Chief Decker also discusses the important role Hands-Only CPR plays in saving lives during a Sudden Cardiac Arrest and RAA’s First Responders for Recovery program aimed at curbing the opioid epidemic in the City of Richmond.
