The Richmond Ambulance Authority (RAA) joined the American Heart Association (AHA) to promote the importance of Hands Only CPR during CPR and AED Awareness Month on Virginia This Morning on CBS6.
Knowing how to administer CPR can be the difference between life and death for someone in distress. Michelle Nostheide, executive director at the American Heart Association, along with Harold Mayfield, training coordinator for Richmond Ambulance Authority, shared details about what you should do if you come across someone that may be suffering a cardiac arrest.
RAA and AHA gave away dozens of Hand Only CPR training kits at the Richmond Fire Station 21 Community Day and will give away more kits at the upcoming Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU 20th Annual Summer Safety Fair. It’s all in an effort to get as many people as possible to learn this lifesaving skill. In most cases a cardiac arrest will happen outside of a hospital and will involve someone you know or love. Learning Hands Only CPR could be the difference between them surviving and death.
